INSTALLATION OF INTERIOR DECORATIVE ELEMENTS
1. Preparation of surfaces for installation
Before starting, ensure surfaces are perfectly flat, addressing imperfections. Next, clean surfaces thoroughly to remove dust and debris, optimising conditions. Finally, confirm surfaces are dry for material adhesion integrity, ensuring professional results.
2. Preparation of products for installation
To enhance the adhesion of the gypsum moldings to the surface, it is beneficial to create grooves or scores on the backside of larger pieces. Similarly, for smaller elements, sanding the back surface with sandpaper can help optimize adhesion.
3. Installation of products
Gypsum moldings can be adhered using various types of adhesives, including cementitious (e.g., tile glue), special or universal gypsum-based (e.g., Perlfix), and synthetic (e.g., "liquid nails"). It is advisable to secure the bonded part with wood screws to prevent the product from shifting due to its weight until the adhesive has dried.
4. Plastering of products
After installing the products, gaps and holes left by wood screws may remain between them. These areas need to be filled with putty. Various putties suitable for interior work can be used for this purpose. Our recommended materials for puttying are gypsum-based putties (e.g., Knauf Uniflott) or acrylic-based putties (e.g., Fome Flex Finish). Once all the putty work is completed, any excess material can be smoothed out with sandpaper.
5. Painting of products
Details made of sculptural gypsum, after priming, can be painted with various types of paint: nitro, alkyd, oil-based, water-based, etc. Due to the various textures of gypsum castings, it is most convenient to paint them by spraying or with a brush, and in exceptional cases, with a roller.
